The International Association for Translation and Intercultural Studies (IATIS) is committed to the provision of an intellectual forum where scholars from different regional and disciplinary backgrounds can debate issues relating the translation and other forms of cross-cultural communication as they continue to develop in the 21st century.

FIT (International Federation of Translators)

FIT is an international federation of associations of translators, interpreters and terminologists gathering more than 100 associa

tions from all over the world. Its purpose is to promote professionalism in the disciplines it represents. FIT is also concerned with the conditions of professional practice in various countries and strives to defend translators' rights in particular and freedom of expression in general. FIT maintains formal consultative relations with UNESCO.

EUATC (European Union of Associations of Translation Companies)

The EUATC is an international organisation and the only one of its kind in Europe representing quality-oriented translation companies.
It was established in 1994 and its members are national associations of translation companies.

Launched in 2002 after two years of development by a team of linguists from 26 countries, the Inttranet is unique among portals for professional interpreters and translators in that it is genuinely multilingual: 33 language versions are currently available, representing 90% of all Internet users, and all of the portal's features and functions are interoperable between each language version. Using the portal, customers all around the world can locate, evaluate, contact and contract with the professional linguist(s) required, all in their own language.

The portal was approved for inclusion on the UNESCO Observatory for the Information Society in January 2006.

LanguageCulture.org is an educational e-journal and bilingual online learning system designed for community interpreting and translation students. LanguageCulture.org aims to inform and train health care interpreters, translators and health care workers who provide Spanish-language or intercultural communication facilitation services for medical care professionals and their limited-English proficient patients or clients. LanguageCulture.org includes online courses, lectures, academic articles, personal profiles, personal interviews, news analyses and reviews of current or relevant literature on cross-cultural health care topics.
