Courage and translation know no limits

 Thai Binh, Vietnam (Vietnam News): A young woman from a small village in the northern province of Thai Binh has overcome her handicaps to become a distinguished English teacher and translator. […] Everything changed when Nguyen Bich Lan turned 14 and started showing the symptoms of a strange disease that made her feel weaker by the day. It was eventually diagnosed as muscular dystrophy, which causes irreversible wasting of skeletal muscle. […] Writer-translator Thuy Toan, chairman of the Translated Literature Council, has great admiration for Lan. He said that despite her handicap, she has made enormous efforts to master a foreign language, understand another culture and translate so many books.
