Washington, USA (Site): Mayada Salihi, the interpreter kidnapped in Iraq last week [see Inttranews Archives] is a female captain working with American forces in the Iraqi Ministry of Defense in the Green Zone, where she lived, to investigate the mujahideen. Her kidnappers indicated that they had been pursuing Salihi for over one year and she had escaped an assassination attempt and capture in mid-2005.
