EC translation requirements and the 2007 enlargement

Brussels, Belgium (Europa): The European Union is steadily expanding, as is the list of its official languages. In 2007 Bulgaria and Romania are expected to be admitted, and once they join the Union will be operating in 23 official languages. […] As with previous enlargements, the Commission has to recruit translators to make sure it meets its legal and political obligations in terms of written communication from the day of accession.
