North Carolina to crack down on inefficiencies in the interpreting system

North Carolina, USA (WS Journal): Around the first of the year, state officials will begin cracking down on inefficiencies in the interpreting system used throughout North Carolina's courts, taking over a job previously left to local officials. […] There's a shortage of certified interpreters and a growing number of defendants who don't speak English. As a result, some court officials have used interpreters who aren't certified. And as that has happened, there have been some incidents of unethical practices on the part of interpreters.
