Opposition echoes calls for more Indigenous interpreters
|
Queensland, Australia (ABC): The Western Australian Opposition has weighed into the Aboriginal interpreter debate, claiming an immediate injection of funds is urgently required to rectify the imbalance in the WA court system. Attorney-General Jim McGinty has acknowledged some Aborigines facing trial in remote areas are being denied access to a suitable interpreter. He says the situation is not good enough, but stopped short of specifying exactly what the Government would do to address the issue.
