  Need for interpreters growing
Ohio, USA (CR): Not only can [finding an interpreter] be difficult, it’s getting more costly. This year, Common Pleas Court is on track to exceed its record in 2004 of $6,169 spent on interpreter services. That’s because the court is seeing more defendants who don’t speak fluent English. Between 2001 and 2005, the court had three to six cases a year involving non-English-speaking or deaf defendants. This year so far, it’s been 12, of which at least seven involve Spanish speakers.
