Fighting to save an interpreter
|
Nebraska, USA (KETV): A Gretna soldier is working to save the life of a woman who helped American troops inside Iraq. A Kurdish woman called Miss Nancy acted as an interpreter, helping American forces communicate with Iraqis in some of the most dangerous places in the country, including Al Anbar Province. Maj. Jim Oliver knew his mission to help Miss Nancy wasn't over when he left Iraq a few months ago. He said the 64-year-old woman was the lifeline for his National Guard unit, and now she needs a lifeline to get to safety and out of her country. Oliver said Miss Nancy found out from her neighbors that her work for American forces put her on al-Qaida's radar.
