Report on translation services within the Finnish state administration
|
Helsinki, Finland (Kauppalehti): In February 2006, the Prime Minister’s Office appointed a steering group with a mandate to examine and report on the current state of language services within the Finnish state administration. According to the steering group's report, the state employs approximately 150 translators and interpreters. The amount of work done by translators into Swedish is about 90 man-years. The rest of the work is mainly translations into English and translation-interpretation into Russian. The total annual cost of state language services, outsourcing included, is about euro 18 million.
