Growing concern for Ajmal Naqshbandi
|
Kabul, Afghanistan (AKI): There is growing concern among Afghan journalists for the fate of Ajmal Naqshbandi, the interpreter of Italian reporter Daniele Mastrogiacomo, who they believe is still held by the Taliban. They accuse the Italian government of having completely forgotten the young journalist who was accompanying Mastrogiacomo when he and his driver were seized by Taliban fighters in Helmand province on 5 March. "The silence of the Rome government on the fate of Ajmal Naqshbandi is nothing short of shameful,” said Zia Boumia, of the committee for the defence of Afghan journalists, in an interview with Adnkronos International (AKI).
